Michelle Rodriguez Wants More Women Cast In Action Movies But Not Necessarily All Women Action Movie
Actress Michelle Rodriguez was spotted shopping in Beverly Hills, California, when the paparazzi discussed the topic of women in action movies with her.
While she said “duh” she would cast more women in these movies, when asked if it would be an all women action movie, she had an interesting response.
“I don’t know about all that,” Rodriguez shared. “You don’t have to separate. You just have to look at the world like everything’s one.”
“It’s when you separate that you get into trouble,” she elaborated. “Guys think that because you know you doing movies with all girls, they think you hate guys. So then they think you’re like some crazy feminist like back in the day who just wants to shoot every man she sees. And it’s not like that… it’s about harmony. And it’s about creating an environment where the stereotypes are gone.”
“Until you do that,” Rodriguez wrapped with saying, “you’re just gonna have guys making macho movies with girls who are just there to be captured or whatever and then you’ll have girls making movies without dudes- you gotta find the balance in between.”
It was definitely hearing Rodriguez’s thoughts on this, and it sounds like she’s been dwelling on it quite a bit and has some great insights. It will be interesting to see if she applies these thoughts into developing some films in the future.
