EXCLUSIVE: NBA Star Nick Young – High School Basketball Coach Scores $700k Judgement in Legal Battle
The Dirty can exclusively reveal NBA star Nick Young has been hit with a $722k judgement in the legal battle with his high school basketball coach … due to him never bothering to show up to court to defend himself against allegations he screwed over the man.
Last year, Nick’s former business manager and consultant, Andre Chevalier, slapped the NBA star with a $700k lawsuit.
Chevalier – Nick’s high school basketball coach – signed on to be his business manager in 2007 … as he was entering the NBA draft.
They agreed he would be paid 2% of Nick’s endorsement deals along with his basketball salary. He had been paid off of Nick’s agent’s cut but realized his 2% was missing. He sued demanding $700k from his former client.
Nick blew off the lawsuit and failed to respond to the allegations in court.
Then on February 6th, the judge came back and granted Chevalier’s motion for default judgement. The order states Nick failed to show up to court despite being served with the legal papers.
Due to him not showing up, the judge ordered the NBA star to pay his former business manager a total of $655,571 (damages) + $65,557 (prejudgment interest) and $1,430 (other costs) for a grand total of $722,558.
