EXCLUSIVE: NBA star Steve Francis – Another Violation in DWI Case, Blows Off Deadline for Alcohol Monitoring Bracelet
The Dirty can exclusively reveal NBA star Steve Francis has blown off a court order in his DWI case … by failing to get a alcohol monitoring bracelet by the judge’s deadline … only days after he was found to have violated another condition for not having a breathalyzer installed in his car.
The NBA star was arrested for drunk driving in Houston, Texas in December. Law enforcement pulled over the NBA star around 11:20 PM for speeding. Once they talked to him, they noticed he reeked of alcohol and later found marijuana in his car.
The 39-year-old refused to take the field sobriety test and was eventually booked and charged with DWI, possession of marijuana and retaliation for his treatment to the officers.
Earlier this month, Francis was found in violation for failing to install a breathalyzer device in his vehicle. As a result, he was ordered to wear an alcohol-monitoring ankle bracelet due … which will monitor his drinking along with a GPS tracking device, since he can’t leave Texas.
Then on February 15th, another violation report was filed in his criminal case. The court docs accuse Francis of failing to get his SCRAM – the alcohol monitoring bracelet – by the deadline imposed by the judge.
Francis also blew off a scheduled appointment scheduled for the 10th for the SCRAM device. The report notes the NBA star rescheduled his appointment for the 14th but he is still in violation for missing the deadline.
