EXCLUSIVE: The Biggest Loser – Show Doctor Shut Down in Legal Battle With Former Contestant over Claims He Supplied Drugs on Set
The Dirty can exclusively reveal The Biggest Loser resident doctor Dr. Robert Huizenga has been shut down in libel lawsuit against a former contestant – who accused him of providing drugs like Adderall to people on set – with a federal court judge dismissing the entire case recently.
Last year, the reality show’s resident doctor, Dr. Robert Huizenga, sued former contestant Joelle Gwynn and the NY Post over an article they published claiming he provided the contestants with illegal drugs during filming.
Gwynn – who appeared on the show in 2008 – claimed during filming her trainer, Bob Harper, supplied the contestants with Adderall and pills that contain ephedra extract – which has been banned by the FDA. She described feeling jittery and hyper and accused Huizenga of approving the decision to supply contestants with pills.
Huizenga denied all the allegations he supplied or endorsed drug use by contestants and filed his lawsuit accusing the story of being “fabricated, fictitious and outright libelous”.
Gwynn fired back saying everything she said in the article about drugs on set were true. She demanded his libel suit be tossed and he pay her attorney fees.
Recently, the federal judge came back with his decision and sided with the ex-contestant and the NY Post. The judge stated Huizenga filed his lawsuit in the wrong venue in regards to the newspaper. Further, Gwynn is refusing to consent to a new lawsuit against her being filed in New York … as a result all claims against her have been dismissed and the case closed.
