EXCLUSIVE: T.I. – Fires Back At Ex-Employees Accusing Him Of Screwing Them Out Of Wages
The Dirty can exclusively reveal T.I. is blasting his former employees accusing him of screwing them out of wages and never paying a dime in overtime … with the rapper denying he played any role in alleged fraud committed by his business partner.
Last year, 12 former employees of his ATL restaurant Scales 925 sued T.I. and his business partner Charles Hughes.
The employees claimed they were screwed out of wages and never paid overtime. To make matters worse paychecks bounced and were asked to work off the clock and weren’t paid. The suit demanded back pay, unpaid overtime money, in excess of $50k in damages.
Then on February1st, T.I. headed back to court blasting the employees allegations and once again demanded the judge dismiss all claims against him. He argues he did not exercise control over the nature of structure of the employment relationship or have economic control … saying he was not responsible for the daily operations and was not in charge of hiring or firing employees or setting their wages and schedules … thus he claims he cannot be legally defined as their “employer”.
T.I. believes he cannot be held liable for any alleged fraudulent acts of Charles Hughes his partner. However, he says Hughes was never an official general partner. He adds that the overtime compensation they are seeking were secondary or incidental to their primary job functions.
He is demanding the judge side with him and toss the case immediately.
