EXCLUSIVE: Uma Thurman – Scores $485k Victory in Bankruptcy Legal Battle
The Dirty can exclusively reveal Uma Thurman is having the best month ever following her win in the custody battle with her baby daddy and now the actress has reached a $485k agreement in her ex-financial adviser Kenneth Starr’s bankruptcy … with the bankruptcy trustee signing off on a settlement in the year long case.
Ex-financial adviser to the stars, Kenneth Starr, was sentenced to 7.5 years in prison back in 2011 for the massive Ponzi scheme he ran that stole millions from his celebrity clients. He was forced into bankruptcy in 2011.
The trustee presiding over Starr’s years-long bankruptcy has been seizing any assets or property to pay off the numerous creditors … along with suing many of the advisors former clients over old unpaid invoices … bringing lawsuits recently against photographer Annie Leibowitz and designer Isaac Mizrahi.
Uma claimed Starr owed her a total of $2.485 million due to millions she lost in investments he advised her to make and professional fees. He demanded Thurman not be awarded a dime saying the actress was well aware of the risks and said the professional fees she paid were for entirely legitimate and valuable other financial services provided to her.
Then on February 1st, docs were filed in the case explaining Uma and the trustee have reached a resolution in the matter but the actress won’t be seeing $2.48 million.
According to the docs, both parties agreed if they didn’t settle, it would be a time consuming and expensive battle in court over the claim. As a result, they agreed Thurman will reduce her claim to $485k and will receive a portion of the amount immediately and will continue to receive payments as the other creditors in the case are paid out or during the final distributions in the bankruptcy.
