Walking Dead Actor Daniel Newman Comes Out
The Walking Dead has so much press surrounding it, but it rarely has to do with the personal lives of the cast; however, today, Daniel Newman, who plays Daniel on the show, bravely came out.
In a video Newman released, he announced that he was gay.
“When you’re accomplishing incredible things and you’re hiding who you are you’re hurting 100’s of millions of people,” Newman shared in his video.
“By us staying quiet, we’re partially to blame for kids getting beat up and ridiculed, stereotypes and stigmas,” he added.
“I’m an actor,” he also said in his video. “The whole world, the industry, is like ‘here’s your big break, you’re on The Walking Dead, you can’t come out, you can’t be in the press, because everything you work so hard for is going to be gone. There’s no gay or bi leading men, no action heroes, your career’s going to be over.’”
“I don’t care,” he added. “Because I know what’s right.”
We give Newman a ton of credit for coming out in such a brave, descriptive fashion, and appreciate the inspirational message of his video.
