Donald Trump Defends Sharing Infromation With Russian Officials
Yesterday, news broke that President Donald Trump had shared classified intelligence information with Russian officials regarding an Islamic operation.
While H.R. McMaster, the National Security Advisor under President Trump, denied this- stating that “At no time were intelligence sources or methods discussed. The president did not disclose any military operations that were not already publicly known”– this was still a story garnering lots of attention late yesterday and today.
This morning, Trump took to Twitter to defend his sharing of information, tweeting that, “As President I wanted to share with Russia (at an openly scheduled W.H. meeting) which I have the absolute right to do, facts pertaining to terrorism and airline flight safety. Humanitarian reasons, plus I want Russia to greatly step up their fight against ISIS & terrorism.”
Trump does remain angered with leakers of information, as he added that, “I have been asking Director Comey & others, from the beginning of my administration, to find the LEAKERS in the intelligence community…..”
