EXCLUSIVE: NY Jets Brandon Marshall – Settles Legal Battle With Ex-Business Partner Who Claimed He Feared For His Safety

The Dirty can exclusively reveal New York Jets Brandon Marshall has settled the legal battle with his former business partner … in the case in which he was accused of threatening to ruin the man’s reputation with professional athletes and at one point tried to steal his computer … with both parties signing a confidential settlement to bring the case to an end.

Marshall sued his former business partner Matthew Gates last year in Florida Court. He explained they launched the company Fit Speed Athletic Performance in 2012. The business was created to provide a training program to college and professional players for their off seasons … with Marshall investing over $100k to get it up and running and Gates only dropping $10k. The company exploded from 2012 – 2015, with Marshall taking credit for bringing in professional players to train.

Last year, things started to turn sour between the partners with Gates accuses of not keeping Marshall updated on the business operations and making decisions without his approval. Eventually, the NFL star accused his partner of trying to claim he had no role or interest in the company and even threatened to call the cops if he showed up to the facility.

Marshall sued demanding damages including $36k his partner allegedly took from company funds for his own personal use and a court order stating he is a true owner of the company.

Gates counter-sued the NFL star saying he never agreed to a joint business venture and accused him of threatening to ruin his business by spreading lies to pro-athletes … along with fearing for his life after his partner showed up to the business and began cursing, screaming and trying to steal his computer.

Then on January 24th, Marshall and Gates headed to court and filed a joint stipulation for dismissal with prejudice in the case … meaning they have settled the issues once and for all. The parties explain they have reached an amicable resolution to all claims in this case and per their deal, they will be dismissing their suits against the other. The terms of their agreement will remain confidential but the case has been officially closed.
