EXCLUSIVE: Nike – Ex-Employee Accuses Company of Breast Pumping Discrimination, Demands Money for Humiliation
The Dirty can exclusively reveal a former Nike employee is accusing the company of wrongfully terminating her — due to her needing to pump breast milk in the office and now she has slapped the company was a federal lawsuit for the humiliation they caused her.
Andrea Roesch filed suit against Nike, Inc. accusing them of sex discrimination, intentional infliction of emotional distress, hostile work environment and wrongful termination.
The ex-employee explains she began working for Nike in July 2016 at a factory store. She began working there shortly after giving birth. She required the company accommodate her during the workday to permit her to pump breast milk for her baby.
During orientation she asked for a private location to pump her milk. The response she got was to use the public bathroom. She spoke to a higher up and was told there was nothing they could do.
She says she was humiliated and depressed with the belittling and mistreatment … with a co-worker even telling her to just go pump in her car.
Roesch claims she was forced to either forgo pumping her milk or have to use the public bathroom and be embarrassed and humiliated. She complained to the United States Department of Labor about the situation. However, she says that only caused her managers to harass, bully and pick on her. Eventually she was suddenly terminated by Nike in October 2016.
She is suing for the financially and emotionally distress she suffered from working at Nike.
